Charnock Richard, literally meaning 'Heap of Stones' and 'one time home of a man called Richard' The name of this town was given because of the Christian name of its owner in the 13th century. It was so named to try and distinguish itself from the town of Heath Charnock, which is also in the Chorley area.

Park Hall is located in Charnock Richard and was built in the 10th century. It is now being used as a leisure center which holds an antiques fair every Sunday, Bargain hunters take note, there's many a quality piece to be had.

Christmas trees growing on one side of the road, and open farmland on the other with views over to Coppull. Charnock Richard is surprisingly quiet and calm, there are many facilities in the area, and regular bus services running, a general route planner for the region can be found at ukbus.

Camelot Theme park is adjacent to Park Hall, and is full of Arthurian Legend entertainment to keep children of all ages happy. It is a very popular theme park, and has some of the fastest rides in the land !
